Intersections Matchmaking Hosts First DC Singles Mixer - Event is Sold-out!

Intersections Matchmaking, the Only National Elite Personalized Matchmaking Company focused on Singles of South Asian descent in the U.S, founded by a Sikhni Jasbina Ahluwalia, held its first-ever social networking gathering in downtown DC on Thursday, Oct. 1 at Tabaq restaurant where an equal ratio of 50 men and and women attended a sold-out event.

The attendees were extremely pleased with the ratio and the good looking crowd that turned out. Some were newcomers and others were old friends of the founder Jasbina who ventured back into the dating game.

Sikh Paintings on Sothebys Auction Block
sothebys.jpgThree Sikh history paintings are set to be auctioned off at Sotheby's in New York on Sept. 17.

One of the paintings depicts the ten Gurus with Guru Nanakji at the center. The opaque water color was painted by an artist named Sardool Singh.

Bidding for this painting begins at the $5,000-$7,000 range.

Toronto Girl Crowned Miss India-Canada

In the biggest South Asian beauty pageant in North America, 25-year-old Aanchal Dogra was crowned Miss India-Canada 2009 here Sunday night.

Hailing from Mississauga on the outskirts of Toronto, Dogra was also the oldest contestant among 16 Indian-Canadian girls who vied for the title. “I cannot believe that I will be the winner of this beauty pageant,” said Dogra who holds an MD in alternative medicines.

The beauty crown puts Dogra in the league of Lisa Ray, Komal Sidhu and Ruby Bhatia who went on to become big names in the entertainment world.
