Punjabi American Night a Big Success
|
Punjabi American Night, organised at Eisenhower Park for the last
8 years, was celebrated on Sunday, June 20th 2010.
Mohinder Singh Taneja- Chairperson is presenting the Chief Guest Hon'
Dennis Dunne with a traditional Kirpan and a Shawl.
Others in the picture are Honorees Lawrence Levy ( Hofstra University),
Det. Sgt. Gary Shapiro Police Dept. Nassau County), and community
leaders Mayor Harry Anand, Ms. Indu Jaiswal, Paramjit Bedi, Mohan
Singh, Parbhat Kumar ( Canon), Inderpal Dhall, Surinder Chawla, Zahid
Syed, Gobind Munjal.
Harvinder Riar (Jus Punjabi TV) emceed the event with his great charm
and skills.
Great performances were given by L C Lala and Seema Mattu musical
group and at the vibrant beat of Dhol, Punjabi Virsa Bhangra group
gave a great display of Bhangra led by Gursimer Sidhu.
Complimentary traditional refreshments were provided as always.

Every year Punjabi American Night is held on the 3rd Sunday of June at
the Eisenhower Park in Nassau County in Long Island.

Nishan Sahib Installation Ceremony

Nishan Sahib is the symbol of the Khalsa Panth. It waves above every Gurdwara.
Nishan Sahib is the symbol of unity, purity, justice, equality, sovereignty and independence of Sikh thought and faith.

Every day, in our Ardas we say, "Jhande, Bunge Jugo Jug Atall" (forever shall be the Nishan Sahib and the fort of the Guru).

Sadh Sangat will be very pleased to know that special programs and
activities have been scheduled to celebrate the installation of Nishan
Sahib on July 4, 2010 at the Sikh Center of Virginia gurdwara sahib.
In observation of this special occasion, an Akhand Paath will be held
at the Gurdwara Sahib. The following is a summary of the program for
