Old and New Bollywood Blood at MIAAC Film Festival
|
The Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council's 2009 Film Festival kicked off last night with an opening night gala at Paris Theater but the happening place to be yesterday was an afternoon lunch where some of the new and old Bollywood talent and wanna-be talent confabbed with the Press. In attendance, two stars who could curry a storm on the screen, Sanjay Suri and Sarita Choudhury, who came to pitch their new projects to the media.

Producer John Halpern's Kashmiri projects caught the attention of Sarita Choudhury.

Tracey Jackson (speaking), who made The Guru with Jimi Mistry and Confessions of a Shopaholic among other desi films, invested close to $500K of her own money on her latest two-year project, Lucky Ducks where she turned the camera on herself and her spoilt brat daughter whom she took with her to the Mumbai slums for some attitude adjustment and is now in talks with ABC to turn the movie into primetime TV shows.

Aroon Shivdasani (right) who runs the film festival and the IAAC worked tirelessly to make this year's event happen despite the rough seas in the economy.

Lots of the stars billed for the lunch didn't show, but the festival featured the hottest volunteers! Never forget the extras!
